Headaches Q & A
How Often can a Person Receive a Chiropractic Adjustment?
Each patient will be different when it comes to how often they need a chiropractic adjustment. It will also depend on the severity of the pain and discomfort. If the pain is mild, receiving an adjustment every few days or once a week may provide relief. If the pain is severe, it may take a daily adjustment in order to correct the condition and relieve the pain and discomfort. Daily adjustments can provide the support the musculoskeletal system needs to start the healing process and maintain proper alignment. If the injury was severe, this may take several daily adjustments and achieve a wellness state.
Why is it Important to Treat the Person as a Whole?
Conventional health care only treats the symptoms and does not address how the entire body is affected. Chiropractic care, on the other hand, takes a more holistic approach. In some cases, the cause of one condition may be the result of another condition that may not be showing any symptoms. This is often true of headache pain. By treating the entire the body, the true cause of the discomfort can be identified and treated. This form of care allows all aspects of an illness to be treated and will actually prevent other issues causing problems in the future. It can also uncover potential health problems the patient didn't know they had.
What are Other Treatment Options can be Effectively Used With a Chiropractic Adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustments can be used in conjunction with other treatment options. Massage therapy, acupuncture, and physical therapy can be used together to improve circulation, restore balance to the physical structure, and strengthen weakened areas of the body. These methods, when combined with nutritional counseling and other types of support will help the person to regain their health and maintain a wellness program that can prevent the pain and discomfort from their past illness or injury from returning. Many chiropractors believe that to effectively treat an injury or illness several modalities should be used to make sure all aspects of the conditions are addressed.
